ABOUT DAN & DINGO

Dan McClain

E-MAIL DAN

I was born in Baltimore, Maryland, graduated from Towson State University and worked in several places including Martinsburg, West Virginia,(David Fram) Charlottesville, Richmond and Virginia Beach, Virginia before moving to the Tennessee Valley in 1992.

Among my many loves are my wife Karen (the apple of my eyeballs...woo hoo) and kids Eric (former US Marine now College student and Bass guitarist in the group ‘Ahead of the Wake’), Emily (student at UAB) and Daniel (massive football player with quick feet...for you scouts who might read this).  We have two dogs, our ol' white mutt named Cosmo who spends way too much time with his big head in our trash can looking for special treats and our newest addition Peanut the Bassett hound, who spends his days whining and wagging that big tail. My other passions include music, golf and napping.
Here is a picture of Peanut.

I was born in Montgomery, AL and moved to Huntsville as a young cub and have and will always call Huntsville home!  I graduated from Grissom High School and went on to get my BA in Communications from The University of South Alabama.  I don't remember much from college but I can tell you it was thirty minutes from the Redneck Riviera and only a couple hours away from New Orleans! Hidey Ho!  I've had a lot of crazy jobs all over the southeast before making my way back home. I've worked as a TV morning show host, a weatherman, PR for CMT and then I made it to WDRM!  I love what I do and enjoy meeting so many people that make country music a part of their everyday life.  My greatest joy in life is spending time with my wife Julie and Kaitlyn (Little Dingo) and now our newest addition baby Kamryn (KB). They are my pride and Joy!  Kaitlyn is 13 and at the age where I embarrass her constantly.  Imagine That!  I look forward to meeting you all this year!  See you and See you soon!  HIDEY HO!!

Huntsville Police Fallen Officers Memorial fund drive

Huntsville Police Fallen Officers’ Memorial

The Huntsville Police Citizens Foundation, founded in 2006, is raising funds to dedicate a memorial to the nine Huntsville Police Officers who have given their lives in the line-of-duty since 1883. Most recently, the Huntsville community was affected by the deaths of Police Officers Daniel Golden in 2005 and Eric Freeman in 2007.

In 2007, the Huntsville Police Department joined the Huntsville Police Citizens Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, to erect a memorial in memory of fallen officers. The committee members include Mike Fees, Local Attorney & Chairperson; Larry Barnett, Larry’s Pistol & Pawn; and Robert Broussard, Deputy District Attorney for Madison County who are overseeing the fundraising for the memorial. Fundraising is underway to collect the $500,000 needed to complete the memorial at the entrance to the Justice and Public Safety Complex. The life-sized bronze statue of two Huntsville Police Officers atop a granite base, one kneeling and holding a folded American flag and the other standing, will feature engraved names of our fallen officers in a “thin blue line” between brick pavers reserved for officers and citizens. Sergeant Angie DeNoon of the Huntsville Police Department says, “Funds collected beyond the amount needed for the Memorial will support the families of our fallen officers.”

Jimmy Wayne joined Dan and Dingo to talk about his 'Meet Me Halfway' campaign....Click Here

While Jimmy Wayne continues his walk halfway across America on his 'Meet Me Halfway' campaign, fellow artists are inspired by the good deed the singer is doing to raise awareness for teens who age out of the foster home system.

"As artists, we have a special platform to help others," Jimmy's labelmate,
Justin Moore, tells The Boot. "We don't always have as much time to do as many things as we'd like, but when we have opportunities, it is part of our job to do so. We are so blessed to do what we do for a living. It's a small way to give back. Jimmy is an incredible artist and a better human being. What he's doing now is a great example of that."

By doing his 1,700-mile trek in the dead of winter, Jimmy raised a lot of eyebrows when he announced his campaign in December. But that only showed friends and fans that his mission came from the heart.
